Tyler Woolace recently earned a Level 1 Electrical Thermographer certification from the Infrared Training Center, in accordance with ANSI/ASNT CP-105 and CP-189 of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing. This certification allows Woolace Electric to add infrared thermography testing to its services to customers.
Thermography is used for a variety of condition monitoring/preventative maintenance applications. Utilizing thermal imaging equipment, electrical components can be analyzed in a non-destructive way as a way to test electrical systems’ overall health, and installations can be tested to ensure the safety of the electrical system.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that ten percent of the fires occurring in manufacturing properties are related to electrical system failures, such as failure of electrical insulation, terminals, and related components. Additionally, failures can cause employees to be exposed to live electrical circuits, making them susceptible to serious injury. By detecting high-resistance connections and repairing them, the likelihood of a breakdown of the electrical wires and related components is reduced.
Congratulations Tyler on this certification! Contact Woolace Electric to have a thermography test done.
